Manish Tewari hits out at BJP over snooping row

Panaji, Nov 20 (ANI): Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Manish Tewari on Wednesday lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the allegations of snooping on a young woman by the Gujarat police, saying there is a difference between security and surveillance. In an alleged taped conversation between former home minister of Gujarat, Amit Shah and Gujarat IPS officer G L Singhal aired by news portals Cobrapost and Gulail, Shah was instructing Singhal to closely monitor the movements of the woman referred to in the report as "Madhuri", which is not her real name. Addressing mediapersons in Goa, Tewari said that the BJP cannot fool people by dubbing the incident as a security issue. Nov 20, 2013

Delhi Polls: Congress releases election manifesto

New Delhi, Nov 20 (ANI): With Delhi assembly polls coming closer, Congress released its election manifesto on Wednesday which focuses on growth, development, education for the girls under Ladli Scheme. The party claimed that under its rule Delhi will grow faster. Releasing the manifesto, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said that double-decker flyovers will be built to ease the traffic situation. India, Vietnam to enhance bilateral ties, discuss strategic partnership

New Delhi, Nov 20 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh welcomed General Secretary of Vietnam's Communist Party Nguyen Phu Trong on Wednesday, who is on a four-day state visit with an aim to boost bilateral ties and discuss strategic partnership. Trong, who is visiting the country from November 19 to November 22, has been invited by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Singh will host a banquet in Trong's honour and both are likely to hold talks on India-Vietnam strategic partnership. BJP files complaint against Rahul Gandhi over poll code violation

SC issues notice to centre, states on security arrangements at religious places

A bench headed by Chief Justice P. Heritage buildings in Kolkata set for illumination and glitter

Kolkata, Nov 20 (ANI): In a bid to attract tourists, authorities are planning to use colourful illumination to beautify major heritage buildings in Kolkata, including the famous Victoria Memorial build during the British Era in India. The State tourism department has identified four heritage buildings in the city, which include the Victoria Memorial Hall, Nakhoda Masjid, St Paul's Church, and the Town Hall. The beautification drive will see authorities using musical LED lights and sound and light shows depicting historical events at these famous places to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of these buildings. Voters defy Maoists, Chhattisgarh records 75% Polling

New Delhi/ Chhattisgarh, Nov 20 (ANI): Despite threat calls to boycott elections by Maoists in Chhattisgarh, around 75 per cent polling was recorded on Tuesday in 72 constituencies of the state. The second and last phase of assembly polls in the Maoist-infested Chhattisgarh concluded peacefully. Last week, polling for the first phase was held for 18 seats including constituencies in Maoists-infested districts of Bastar and Rajnandgaon. The Maoists had earlier warned voters of dire consequences and asked them to boycott the polls by putting up threatening banners in different villages of the region. Mudslinging continues over snooping row

Mudslinging continued between political parties even as the girl’s father urged the NCW to ensure that the matter is not discussed any further. Meanwhile the BJP said that the Congress should stop making an issue of this as the father of the girl has requested for privacy. Bangalore ATM Attack: Karnataka HM calls high-level officials meeting

A man brutally attacked a woman with sharp weapon and robbed her inside an ATM booth in Bangalore on Tuesday. CCTV footage showed the man attacking the woman with a weapon on her face and head.
