People of Bangladesh hold protests against Jamaat-E-Islami

Dhaka, Dec 16: Mostafa Hawlader, who testified against Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee in war crimes trial, was brutally attacked at his house on December 8. The family of 55-year-old, who later succumbed to his injuries, held the Jamaat responsible for the "planned attack". His death was decried by the people and supporters of People’s Resurgence Platform, Gano Jagoron Manch, who held protests against the killing. The incident exposes the violent face of Jamaat-e-Islami, the largest Islamic party in Bangladesh. Dec 16, 2013

BSE closes points 50.14 down on Dec 16

New Delhi, Dec 16 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 50.14 points down to stand at 20,665.44. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 13.70 points down to stand at 6,154.70. Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 18.58% and 12.68% along with Indian Hotels and SSLT with an increase of 8.25% and 4.12% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include Sobha Developers Ltd. and Wockhardt with a decrease of 7.75% and 5.44% along with Pipavav Defence and JetAir India with a decrease of 4.90% and 4.49% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is down 93.25 points at 11,941.09 while the banking sector is down 6.07 points at 12,963.43 and the realty sector is down 1.35 points at 1,338.52. Justice AK Ganguly should resign now: Sibal

New Delhi, Dec 16 (ANI): Reacting over the latest revelations made in former justice AK Ganguly sexual assault case, Union Law Minister Kapil Sibal on Monday said that Ganguly should now submit his resignation. Excerpts of an affidavit by a law intern, who has accused Ganguly of sexual harassment, have been made public in an unusual step by Additional Solicitor General Indira Jaising, sparking off fresh demands for his resignation as chairman of the West Bengal Human Rights Commission (WBHRC). In her affidavit to a three-judge panel set up by Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam to go into her allegation that Justice Ganguly had sexually harassed her in a hotel room on December 24 last year, the intern has described in detail his alleged behaviour when she had gone to assist him in his work.
