SASB to take review of Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage route to ensure safety

Srinagar, June 20 (ANI): The top officials of Shrine board in Kashmir said that final call to begin annual Hindu Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage will be taken after a second review of the track to ensure safety of devotees as the area near the holy cave is still snow laden. RK Gupta, CEO of the Shrine board addressed mediapersons in Srinagar and said that he would review both the tracks to be undertaken by the devotees on June 23, raising apprehensions on the annual pilgrimage. The cave containing the holy Shiv shrine is located at a snow-capped mountainous peak of the Himalayas. Jun 20, 2014

Uruguay's Luis Suarez struck twice including a dramatic late winner to earn Uruguay a 2-1 victory over England in the pulsating World Cup Group D match in Sao Paulo. The result left England, bottom of the group and with little hope of reaching the last 16. Pulwama, June 20 (ANI): Acting on a tip off intelligence, Indian security forces gunned down three militants in a village of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir, after launching combing in the area where the insurgents were hiding. As soon as they received the information of the hide out, a joint operation was brought into force, involving the Indian Army, police force and the paramilitary to track down the militants in Buchroo in Tral area in Pulwama. Chennai, June 20 (ANI): An Indian Muslim outfit met and submitted a memorandum to Sri Lankan deputy high commissioner in Chennai, demanding cessation of attacks on Muslims in the island nation. Last week, at least three people were killed and around 150 were injured during the riots between Buddhists and Muslims in one of the worst communal violence in Sri Lanka. The riots followed a protest march by the hard-line Buddhist group, Bodu Bala Sena, which is partially led by monks. Greenpeace India denies receiving government notice on foreign funding

New Delhi/ Tamil Nadu, June 20 (ANI): Executive director Greenpeace-India, Samit Aich denied media reports that the central government had served notice to it on its foreign funding. India has asked the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to tighten controls on moving funds from abroad into Greenpeace's accounts. The government has asked the RBI to obtain its permission before releasing funding from Netherlands-based Greenpeace International and the US-based Climate Works Foundation, both contributors to Greenpeace India. About 100 Indian workers are trapped in areas overrun by ISIL. Syed Munir, who returned from Iraq, said by and large Indians were being treated well there. Tamil Nadu, June 20 (ANI): A snake rescue team caught two endangered snakes found in Karumathampatti village on the outskirts of Coimbatore and released them into the natural habitat of serpents. A snake rescue team deployed by VANAM (Vaigal Association of Nature and Mountain Ranges) found the snakes on the outskirts of the Karumathampatti village, about 28 KM (about 18 miles) from the hub of Coimbatore. Contrary to their reputation as a venomous vermin, the red sand boa feeds on insects and other small animals.
