Rajnath Singh on food price control

New Delhi, July 3 (ANI): Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that he has directed his officials and concerned ministers to take every step to control the prices of essential commodities. He added that he has asked for strong action against hoarders. The Home Minister's directive came following a high-level meeting attended by Delhi LG Najeeb Jung, Chief Secretary S K Srivastava, Police Commissioner B S Bassi besides others.

Indian nurses in Iraq safe, MEA doing its best: Oommen Chandy

New Delhi, July 03 (ANI): Talking about nurses stranded in violence hit Iraq, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that Indian nurses are safe and that administration and Ministry of External Affairs are doing its best in rescuing them. He also said that the exact location of the nurses is not known right now and the administration is doing its best in every way. Meanwhile, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said that all diplomatic channels are open in the case.

900 Indians given tickets to fly out of Iraq, Kerala nurses safe: MEA

New Delhi, July 03 (ANI): MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin on Thursday gave updated information about safety of Indian nationals stranded in Iraq. Akbaruddin said that 900 Indians have been given flight tickets to move out of Iraq. He also said that the Indian nurses in Iraq have been moved out of Tikrit and ensured that all of them are safe and unharmed.

Children fall ill after consuming mid day meal in New Delhi

New Delhi, July 3 (ANI): In yet another incident, children of Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in the Patparganj area of East Delhi fell ill after consuming the mid-day meal. Soon after parents of the children reported that there were insects found in the mid-day meal, AAP leader Manish Sisodia arrived at the school and sent the children to the hospital. He said that feeding this kind of food to children is like a sin and he hopes that this case becomes a deterrent for similar cases which repeatedly occur at other schools.

Police recover huge cache of explosives from Maoist hotbed in Bihar

Gaya, July 3 (ANI): India's paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in a joint operation with district police recovered huge cache of explosives from Maoist hideout in red corridor of Bihar. The explosives were recovered from a cave in the outskirts of Gaya district on Wednesday. Maoists, also known as Naxals, have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks in an insurgency that has killed thousands since the 1960s. The Maoists, who say they are fighting for the rights of the poor and landless, control some of India's mineral-rich areas and operate in large areas of the eastern, central and southern countryside.

Prashant Bhushan on AAP's demand of fresh polls in Delhi

BSE closes points 17.46 down on July 3

New Delhi, July 03 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 17.46 points down to stand at 25,823.75. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 10.35 points down to stand at 7,714.80. Glenmark pharmaceuticals ltd. and Eicher Motors were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 6.56% and 5.73% along with Uco Bank and Bata India with an increase of 5.61% and 4.71% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include GMR Infra and JPPOWER with a decrease of 7.83% and 4.87% along with Jaiprakash Associates Ltd. and Unitech with a decrease of 4.70% and 4.66% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 116.11 points at 16,082.41 while the banking sector is down 32.83 points at 17,711.80 and the realty sector is down 30.87 points at 2,075.90. The Indian currency is up 0.12% at Rs 59.76 per dollar.

State Finance Ministers to meet Arun Jaitley over state-centre disagreements

Oommen Chandy meets Sushma Swaraj over stranded nurses in Iraq

New Delhi, July 03 (ANI): Kerala Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, met Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj, on Thursday to discuss ways to bring back stranded nurses from Iraq. Nurses from Kerala, who are stranded in Tikrit city, have called for urgent help from the Indian government. Chandy said that the government is concerned about the safety of nurses and it is doing every bit to bring them back. Congress protests against Vyapam scam, demands CBI probe

Bhopal, July 03 (ANI): Leaders of Congress party protested outside state assembly in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday demanding central police probe into Vyapam scam involving many government employees who got selected through unfair means. Congress party protesters walked out of the state assembly in Bhopal and demanded resignation of Madhya Pradesh chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, over his alleged involvement in the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam. Congress leader, Ramnivas Rawat, said central police probe is the need of the hour to ensure justice to the students. Vyapam scam, also known as Employment scam, relates to admissions in medical and engineering colleges during the period 2008 to 2010 in which many government employees are under the scanner for getting selected through unfair means.

SC rejects Asaram Bapu's bail plea

Women Activists back SC's decision to rule out automatic arrests in dowry cases

The apex court expressed concerns over misuse of the anti dowry law. Section 498-A of the IPC was introduced with object to combat the menace of harassment to a woman at the hands of her husband and his relatives.
