More Indian nurses stranded in Iraq arrive home

Kochi, July 13 (ANI): Another batch of 29 Indian nurses, who were caught up fighting in Iraq, arrived home in Kochi city of Kerala and were welcomed by their family members at the airport. The nurses were working in four different hospitals in and around places of Diyala. The nurses had been worried as the hospital authorities were not returning their passports but they got it later after government's intervention. India's foreign ministry made ways for safe return of the stranded Indian nationals as they arranged for funds to pay off for immigration fines and return tickets.

Delhi swelters under record heat wave with no sight of monsoon

New Delhi, July 13 (ANI): Delhi is sweltering under the longest heat wave on record, triggering widespread breakdowns in the supply of electricity with no scope of monsoon in the days to come. Temperatures in the capital reached up to a maximum of 41 degrees centigrade in the past week. High temperatures, coupled with frequent power outages, have put the residents in misery. Tourism industry is badly hit as travellers prefer to visit cooler places to get some respite from the scorching heat. Meteorological Department officials attribute the delay in monsoons to the western disturbances in north India. But they are optimistic about the arrival of monsoons in the near future.

Last rites of senior journalist Jehangir Pocha performed in New Delhi

New Delhi, July 12 (ANI): The last rites of senior journalist and editor-in-chief of News X channel Jehangir Pocha were performed at Nigambodh Ghat in New Delhi on Saturday evening. Pocha passed away in Gurgaon on Saturday morning due to cardiac arrest. He was co-founder of IndiMedia Pvt Ltd, which owns the news channel NewsX. Defence and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was also present among some eminent leaders at the ceremony. Paying tribute to the jopurnalist BJP leader Nalin Kohli said that a very good human being has been lost. He added that Pocha never brought disrepute to his profession.

Fire at SBI Branch in Chennai
