No deal with US on bringing back Dawood Ibrahim: RK Singh

New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): Former Union Home Secretary RK Singh refuted claims of Home Affairs Minister Sushilkumar Shinde who said that the US intelligence agency has offered help to arrest most wanted gangster, Dawood Ibrahim. Earlier, Shinde said that India was in touch with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to bring back underworld don and 1993 Mumbai serial blasts accused that killed at least 250 people. Singh, who served under Shinde and recently retired, said it was a ridiculous claim. Congress leader Saifuddin Soz said that Singh’s comment was unfortunate. Jan 14, 2014

Odisha: Fisherman shot dead in security patrol encounter

Odisha, Jan 14 (ANI): A fisherman was shot dead in an exchange of fire with a patrol squad in the prohibited area in Kendrapara district of Odisha, said police. The squad had spotted over 150 fishermen in more than 15 trawlers fishing in the Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary in sea waters. Fishermen allegedly opened fire at the government officials leading to encounter. The deceased has been identified as SK Akbar (19). JandK: Three terrorists killed in Sopore encounter

Sopore, Jan 14 (ANI): Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir killed three terrorists during an encounter in Sopore district of the province. The police and the Army launched a joint action to search the militants after they got information from intelligence about the militant hideout. The gun battle, which began around 2.00 pm in the Dangerpora area of Sopore district, lasted three hours.
