Have asked Ugandan High Commission to provide counselor service to three women: MEA

New Delhi, Feb 4 (ANI): Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin on Tuesday said the ministry has written to the Ugandan High Commission regarding a complaint filed by three Ugandan women with the police indicating that they were allegedly brought to India under false pretenses. Akbaruddin further said they have suggested to the Ugandan High Commission to provide counselor services to the three Ugandan nationals as early as possible. Earlier on Monday, three Uganda n women had filed a complaint with help from the Delhi Government and sought intervention from the External Affairs Ministry seeking protection for them. Feb 4, 2014

Shiv Sena workers protest against Pak Band in Mumbai Press Club

Mumbai, Feb 04 (ANI): Nearly 50-70 Shiv Sena workers on Tuesday barged inside the Mumbai Press Club where a Pakistani band Mekaal Haasan was holding a press conference and demanded that the Sufi band be sent back to their nation. The protesters were holding placards and saffron flags and were shouting slogans ‘No Pakistani individual or group will be allowed in Mumbai’. The police was immediately called in. New Delhi, Feb 04 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee conferred India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, on cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and eminent scientist CNR Rao at a function held at the `Durbar Hall` of Rashtrapati Bahavan on Tuesday. Tendulkar, who retired from international cricket on November 16 last year, is the first sportsman to be bestowed with the honour by the President. In a fitting finale to a record-breaking career spanning 24 years, Tendulkar, was chosen for the prestigious award, after his farewell 200th Test against the West Indies in Mumbai on November 16, 2013. Maoists set ablaze vehicles in Jharkhand

Ramgarh, Feb 04 (ANI): Maoists set ablaze vehicles in Jharkhand instilling fear among the villagers, while the driver of the burnt trucks claimed that rebels were armed. Around 15 to 20 armed rebels attacked the drivers and set their vehicles on fire in Ramgarh district. A driver, Mahesh Bediya said that the incident took place at 3.00 AM. Bus service resumes across India- Pakistan border

Poonch, Feb 04 (ANI): After two weeks of crisis, Poonch- Rawalkote bus service resumed with 72 people crossing the LoC. The suspension was in retaliation to the arrest of a Pakistan truck driver, who was detained by the Indian security forces in January, while he was allegedly trying to cross the border with 114 packets of brown sugar in Kaman post area of Kashmir. Custodian, Chakan Da Bagh crossing point, Bashir Ahmed, said that the issue should be resolved quickly so that passengers as well as traders of both sides can freely cross the border.
