Rajiv Gandhi wanted anti-Sikh riots to happen: BJP

New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): Former president Giani Zail Singh’s press secretary Tarlochan Singh has contradicted Congress vice- president Rahul Gandhi's claim that the Congress government had tried to stop the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Singh in a statement said that the 1984 riots were in fact “orchestrated and sponsored”. He also said that Rajiv Gandhi who took over as PM following the death of Indira Gandhi, even refused to take calls from the Giani Zail Singh when the latter tried to speak to him to discuss the situation. Speaking over this, BJP vice-president Vinay Katiyar on Thursday said that Rajiv Gandhi wanted that riots should happen. Dense fog disrupts normal life in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): A heavy blanket of fog enveloped the national capital on Thursday morning, hitting air, rail and road services badly. According to the MeT department, the general visibility at the Indira Gandhi International Airport dropped to below 50 metre and because of poor visibility operations of more than dozen of flights were affected. Nation pays homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his 66th death anniversary

New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): The Nation on Thursday paid homage to Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his 66th death anniversary. Prominent leaders from various political parties and other dignitaries paid floral tributes at his Samadhi at Rajghat in the national capital. A series of functions are being organized throughout the country to mark the occasion. Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869 in Porbandar. A lawyer by profession, Gandhi led the struggle for India's independence from British rule by following the path of non-violence. Ironically, Gandhi was shot dead by a Hindu fanatic, Nathuram Godse, at a prayer meeting in Delhi on January 30, 1948, less than a year after India became independent. Jan 30, 2014

Cabinet to decide on raising LPG cylinder cap, BJP slams

New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): The central government is likely to increase the number of subsidized LPG gas cylinders given to consumers from 9 to 12 after Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, told Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during the AICC meeting on January 17 that the present allocation was not enough to fulfill the needs of the people. The move is likely to benefit 10% of consumers. This proposition from Congress has earned criticism from other parties. Militants target and kill five non-local bus passengers in Kokrajhar
