Following the state government’s decision to set up new administrative units in both Jammu and Kashmir, the Kangan tehsil in district Ganderbal has been given the status of a sub-district. It will be now have almost all administrative offices, including the office of a sub- district magistrate. The aim of setting up these new units is to provide justice at the doorstep of the common man. Tirshi village, about 12 km from district headquarter Udhampur, has not got electricity since independence. People here, especially the students, face many problems due to the non-availability of electricity. The state government is building a new indoor and outdoor sports stadium in Rajouri, but the incomplete stadium is a cause of concern to sportspersons in the area. Mar 6, 2014
