Mumbai, Aug 27 (ANI): Former Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan received farewell by state cabinet staffs and ministers at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai on Wednesday. Sankaranarayanan also received guard of honour during the event. Present at the occasion were ministers and state Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan who bid farewell to the former governor. Sankaranarayanan resigned soon after he was transferred to Mizoram by the NDA government for his remaining tenure, which had to end in 2017. SC dismisses petition on appointment of tainted ministers, says its call of framers of Constitution

New Delhi, Aug 27 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed petition seeking the removal of Cabinet ministers with criminal background. The SC said that it is the call of the ‘framers of Constitution’ or the Prime Minister and the Chief Ministers of the state to see who they are appointing. The petition was heard by a bench comprising of the Chief Justice of India and five other judges. The Supreme Court has however clarified its stand on ministers with criminal background saying that, "Those in conflict with the law and involved in offences of moral turpitude and corruption should not be allowed to discharge duty as ministers".
