Jodhpur police arrest aide of IM terrorist

Jodhpur, March 25 (ANI): Jodhpur Commissioner of Police Sachin Mittal on Tuesday confirmed that a special police team arrested Barkat Ali, an accomplice of suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorist Mohammed Sakib Ansari. He said that Ali has been arrested after police got some operational details and that further detailed investigation is on. Odisha police hold flag march in Maoist hit area encouraging people to vote

Gajapati, Mar 25 (ANI: Police forces in Odisha conducted a flag march in Maoist infested Gajapati district on Tuesday to boost the morale of people and encourage them to vote, as they face security threat from insurgents during general elections. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and district police held the march throughout the region. DMK Chief M Karunanidhi permanently expels MK Alagiri from party

New Delhi, Mar 25 (ANI): DMK chief M Karunanidhi on Tuesday permanently expelled his elder son MK Alagiri from the party, two months after suspending him. The DMK had even threatened disciplinary action against party members if they were found to be in touch with Alagiri. The party general secretary K Anbazhagan, in a statement had said that Alagiri was causing confusion by organizing meetings on the pretext of meeting his supporters. Japan woos tourists

Tokyo, Mar 25 (ANI): Tokyo Marathon 2014 attracted many participants from Japan and across the world. The annual citizen marathon, which starts from Tokyo Metropolitan Government building, has become one of the world's major marathons along with Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York. About 36,000 runners took part along with the world's elite runners. 10 per cent of the participants were foreigners. The marathon organizers received 300,000 applications for the event, but only 10 per cent of them were selected through a draw. The marathon passed through Tokyo's landmarks such as Imperial Palace, Tokyo Tower and the town of Ginza and Asakusa and concluded at Tokyo Big Sight Convention Centre. Mar 25, 2014

Jharkhand: Landmine blast injures three policemen

Khunti, March 25 (ANI): At least three policemen were seriously injured in a landmine blast triggered by Naxals in Jhankhand's Khunti district on Tuesday. The blast took place near the Murhu police station in the Kotna village where the officers were engaged in anti-Maoist operations. Superintendent of police, Anees Gupta, threw more light on the incident. For better treatment, they have now been sent to Apollo hospital in Ranchi. Bangladesh social activist calls for trial of 1971 war criminals accused of genocide

Dhaka, March 25 (ANI): Bangladesh social activist, Khushi Kabir called for trial of the collaborators including Pakistani soldiers accused of genocide in 1971 and pressed his demand for closure of the culture of impunity. Unrest erupted in January 2013 when the tribunal sentenced to death in absentia a leader of Jamaat. Thousands took to the streets in February demanding the execution of another Jamaat leader after he was jailed for life on similar charges.
