India-Pak relation complex, destinies of both countries inter-linked: Abdul Basit

New Delhi, Sep 13 (ANI): Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit, while addressing a gathering on Saturday, said that India and Pakistan share a complex relationship which is not linear and has seen many ups and downs. He also said that the destinies of the two countries are inter-linked because they will remain neighbours forever and this fact can never be changed or transformed. Basit added that India and Pakistan should maintain friendly relations to survive peacefully.

TMC and CPI (M) enter into clash in Kolkata during by-polls, injured taken to hospital

Kolkata, Sep 13 (ANI): Trinamool Congress and CPI (M) entered into a clash in Kolkata on Saturday even as by-polls are underway in the constituency. The police personnel arrived at the spot and tried to control the situation. Many party workers injured were taken to nearby hospital. CPI (M) leader Faiyaz Ahmed Khan alleged that TMC started the conflict and manhandled women leaders too who are taken to hospital. Communication facilities being restored in flood-hit JandK: RS Prasad

New Delhi, Sep 13 (ANI): Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday while addressing mediapersons in New Delhi said that efforts are being made to restore communication facilities in flood-hit areas of JandK. He further said that BSNL has allowed people in the valley to talk for a week without any charges and the private companies have given 60mins/day free talktime to the people of JandK. He said that inter-circle roaming has also been permitted in the area for 15 days and that landlines have also started working in the valley.

U-turn: NDA backs UPA's choice in Lokpal panel

New Delhi, Sep 13 (ANI): The government, on Saturday, defended Lokpal selection panel in the Supreme court which the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had opposed when it was in opposition. The BJP-led NDA government filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court, defending the appointment of senior advocate PP Rao as the eminent jurist to the Lokapl panel. Earlier, the BJP had opposed Rao's nomination to the panel, calling him loyalist of Congress party. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said it was not a U-turn because affidavit was related to the process and not to a person. The opposition accused the BJP of following the Congress' policies on a host of issues, which it had traced during the parliament polls. Meanwhile, JD (U) said it exposed BJP's double standards.
