Telangana: Shutdown in Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam/Vijayawada /New Delhi, Feb 21 (ANI): Anti-Telangana protests intensified in Andhra Pradesh as Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra regions witnessed complete shutdown on Friday against the bifurcation and creation of new state. Lawmakers passed a bill to create India's 29th state on Thursday, despite mayhem in the parliament, as opponents made a futile last attempt to stop the Rajya Sabha from carving out landlocked Telangana from the coastal Andhra Pradesh. Security was beefed up in Vijayawada district and the shops remained closed in protest against the passing of Telangana Bill. The residents slammed the central government over their decision on Telangana and said that it was one-sided decision. Meanwhile, Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao hailed the efforts made by the party. Feb 21, 2014

Parliament to be adjourned sine die today: Kamal Nath

New Delhi, Feb 21 (ANI): Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath on Friday said that the Parliament session will not be extended as the Opposition parties have rejected the government's appeal to extend Parliament session and both the Houses will be adjourned sine die today. India, Bangladesh demarcate disputed border

Agartala, Feb 21 (ANI): India, Bangladesh officials demarcated the disputed border in Tripura after four days of meticulous work and expressed satisfaction. The teams from both the countries visited the bordering areas of Kashba, Kaiyardepha and Akhaura and located 250 new subsidiary border pillars, which have been newly constructed. The demarcation would help guards in manning the border, expedite various construction activities such as fencing and lighting and making of water pump houses.
