Narendra Modi takes selfie with party symbol, Congress moves EC

New Delhi/ Ahmedabad, April 30 (ANI): Congress on Wednesday filed complaint with Election Commission against Narendra Modi expressing its displeasure over Modi's selfie outside polling booth holding the BJP symbol in his hand after casting his ballot in Ahmedabad. Post voting, Modi clicked a selfie of his inked finger along with party’s election symbol lotus – triggering an instant controversy with Congress party leaders slamming the move as a publicity gimmick and against the laid guidelines of the Election Commission. Reacting on the complaint, BJP Vice-President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, quashed it saying that the Congress party is in a distressed state and such complaints reflect their frustration of losing the election. Shutdown in Kashmir as crucial phase of election kicks off

Srinagar, April 30 (ANI): A shutdown was observed in Kashmir on Wednesday during the seventh phase of general elections in response to a call given by hard line Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and his moderate counterpart Mirwaiz Umer Farooq. Both separatist leaders reportedly asked the people to keep away from polling booths and not to vote for any of the candidates contesting the elections. Business establishments, schools and transport are closed and roads in the Kashmir Valley wore a deserted look. Security is heavily beefed up in the province which is giving the residents jitters. India and Georgia sign MoU for enhancing trade and economic cooperation

Indian traders demand government action over EU ban on import of Alphonso mangoes

Pune, April 30 (ANI): The sudden ban by the European Union on the import of the luscious Alphonso and other varieties of mangoes which are in great demand worldwide, has hit hard on farmers of Maharashtra, who seek government action to rectify the situation. The 28-member European Union imposed the ban on Alphonso mangoes, known as the king of fruits after finding unwanted quarantine pests such as non-European fruit flies in some of the consignments. President of Pune market yard, Shivlal Bhosle said that this ban will result in a huge loss to farmers and traders. Along with the king of fruits, the vegetables banned are bitter gourd and eggplant. Criticism on his remark on Kargil war hero Vikram Batra deeply hurts Modi

Chhattisgarh/ Himachal Pradesh/ New Delhi, April 30 (ANI): BJP’s Prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, who invoked sentiments in the name of Kargil war hero Vikram Batra while campaigning in Himachal Pradesh, said he was deeply hurt with the criticism and distortion of his remark by political opponents. Earlier on Tuesday, Modi was addressing an election rally in Palampur, the hometown of the Kargil war hero when he referred to Batra's catch-phrase of "Yeh Dil Maange More" (the heart wants more) to seek votes for all four seats from Himachal Pradesh in the ongoing parliamentary polls.
