New Delhi, Oct 1 (ANI): Congress leader Anand Sharma on Wednesday while addressing a media conference said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's US visit was "disappointing" as there were "no major takeaways" from the trip. He added that an atmosphere was created where everyone was very excited and people believed that through such developments the world is going to change and major agreements would be signed between the two countries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for New Delhi on Tuesday after a five-day visit to the United States.

Advani praises outcome of PM Modi's US visit, terms it 'satisfactory'

Ahemdabad, Oct 1 (ANI): BJP leader LK Advani on Wednesday praised the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the United States, describing it as an outcome with a lot of positives. Advani's comments came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for New Delhi on Tuesday after a five-day visit to the United States. Maoists kill youth in Odisha suspecting him of being police informer

Malkangiri, Oct 01 (ANI): Maoists killed a youth in red corridor of Odisha. Reportedly, the youth was killed by the red rebels in Malkangiri district of the state as they suspected him of being a police informer. The police found the body in the nearby forest in a pool of blood with his throat slit. It is suspected that the Maoists came from Chhattisgarh as the Malkangiri district is located near Chhattisgarh border. Maoists, also known as Naxals, have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks in an insurgency that has killed thousands since 1960s.

Elders walk down Delhi streets celebrating International older persons day

New Delhi, Oct 01 (ANI): Enthusiastic elders walked down Delhi streets on Wednesday celebrating the International Day of Older Persons, while commemorating this year's theme of "leaving no one behind: promoting a society for all." On 14 December 1990, the United Nations General Assembly (by resolution 45/106) designated October 01 as the International Day of Older Persons. The event saw various associations of elderly people and even young students participate in the walkathon. The walkathon was flagged off by BJP leader Thawar Chand Gehlot, it was an inspiring sight to see senior citizens walking with an unusual spring in their gait. Gehlot said that the government was doing its bit for the elderly citizens. The walkathon was organised by HelpAge India, an NGO working with and for older people in India for the past 35 years.

Politicos express grief on train accident near Gorakhpur

New Delhi, Oct 01 (ANI): Politicos on Wednesday expressed profound grief over the train accident near Gorakhpur. At least 14 people have died and 45 have been left seriously injured, after the Krishak Express hit the Lucknow-Barauni Express near Gorakhpur late on Tuesday night. Union Railway Minister DV Sadananda Gowda announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of those who died in the tragedy, Rs 1 lakh each to those grievously injured and Rs 20,000 each to those who sustained less serious injuries.

Specially-abled children on dance floor light up nine- day festival in Surat

Surat, Oct 01 (ANI): Specially-abled children lit up the dance floor as they participated in the traditional group dance of Gujarat, 'Dandiya,' performed in honour of Mother Goddess, Durga, during the Navratri, the Hindu festival of nine-nights. Navratri Festival is known for its privileged society and high profile celebrations with the affluent class visiting exclusive clubs for the celebrations. However, this year, the festival also brought immense joy for children with special needs who were allowed to participate in the fun. Organiser of the event, Vaishali Rajesh Kotecha, said such an event will help erase discrimination against these children in society.
