Oommen Chandy assures safe return of stranded nurses from Libya

Thiruvananthapuram, July 30 (ANI): Kerala Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, on Wednesday assured that the Indian nurses stranded in war-torn Libya will return back safely within the next few days. Libyan forces on Tuesday battled Islamist militants with rockets and warplanes for control of an army base in the eastern city of Benghazi after at least 30 people were killed in overnight fighting. Worried over the tense situation, the Indian mission in the conflict-ridden country has suggested its citizens to evacuate Libya and avoid going to conflict zones. India is also preparing for the safe return of its people and is even assuring to arrange for those who cannot afford to come back. Chandy added India's foreign ministry has been requested to send a separate flight for the stranded nurses to collect them from Tunisia, where they will be landing in batches from Tripoli with the help of the Indian Embassy in Libya. Indian environmentalist begins study on growing antibiotics resistance

Addressing a conference, Director of Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), Sunita Narain, on Wednesday spoke of the findings of a research that focused upon the presence of antibiotic elements in certain food products due to which people are becoming immune to the antibiotics prescribed by doctors for common infections. Prithviraj Chavan on Pune landslide

Mumbai, July 30 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Wednesday said that over 150 are feared trapped under debris of more than 44 houses that were buried in a landslide triggered by heavy rains at Malin village in Ambegaon tehsil of Pune district. Talking to mediapersons in Mumbai he said that rescue operations are on in full swing with the help of teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). Pune Landslide: Many feared trapped, 5 bodies recovered

Heavy rains halt life in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, July 30 (ANI): Heavy rains in Ahmedabad brought life to a standstill on Wednesday but cheered people up. The incessant rains that started a night ago clogged city roads, creating huge potholes in them. The rainwater also flooded roads outside Ahmedabad's airport and caused inconvenience to people. Kanpur murder case: Businessman confesses to killing wife

Kanpur, July 30 (ANI): In a new twist in the Kanpur murder case, the husband has confessed to have plotted the murder of his wife with the help of his driver. Piyush Shyam Dashani was arrested on Tuesday after his wife Jyoti Dashani was found murdered on Monday. She was abducted after some bikers allegedly intercepted the car the couple was traveling in on Sunday night. They took her away in the car. She was later found stabbed to death in the same vehicle. Supertech Case: SC orders builders to refund buyers_ money
