It Happens: Rajasthan relives past glory at art exhibition on Anchor World Museum Day

Ajmer, May 23 (ANI): On the occasion of Anchor World Museum Day visitors, specially the youth, thronged to the ancient Ajmer Fort of Rajasthan to relive their ancient tradition and culture, in the two-day heritage exhibition. The heritage exhibition organized in the precincts of the ancient fort of Mughal Emperor Akbar in Naya Bazaar area of Ajmer was inaugurated by the south Ajmer legislator, Anita Bhadel. The curator, Himmat Singh Shekhawat, said that the two-day exhibition aims to promote the idea of restoring the past and understanding its importance in daily lives. Paintings by an eminent artist of Shivam Sharde Art Centre in Ajmer, Mamta Devada, were also displayed. Ancient Ajaipal temple, Dargah Sharif, Clock Tower, St. Anselm’s Church, the puicturesque places of Pushkar and the fort of Taragarh were portrayed through the artist’s 30 paintings. Devada said that the idea behind the exhibition was to make people aware of their rich culture and heritage. The crowds that thronged the ancient fort were proof that the venture was a grand success. MEA briefs about Afghanistan attack and invitation to SAARC leaders

New Delhi, May 23 (ANI): MEA Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin on Friday briefed about the attack on Indian envoy in Afghanistan and strongly condemned it. He also said that the entire situation is being analyzed. He added that Afghanistan PM Hamid Karzai had spoken to Indian PM-designate Narendra Modi and assured him of all possible efforts to protect Indian missions there. Akbaruddin then, highlighting the invitation of SAARC nation leaders to Narendra Modi's oath ceremony, said that invitations were sent to 8 nations out of which Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan and Mauritius have confirmed and response is still awaited from Pakistan. New Delhi, May 23 (ANI): India expressed concern over military coup in Thailand on Friday and hoped for an urgent political resolution and restoration of normalcy based on the principles of democracy, will of the people and rule of the law.Thailand army chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha set out his plans for the country on Friday, a day after seizing power in a coup, saying reforms were needed before an election can be held and enlisting the help of the civil service. Artists pay tribute to Sufi singers at a musical event in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 23 (ANI): The Kashmir Music Club in collaboration with radio station Radio Kashmir organised a musical event to commemorate legendary Sufi musicians in Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar. The event was organized to commemorate long gone Kashmiri Sufi artists like Ghulam Ahmad Sofi, Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, Ghulam Qadir Langoo, Vijay Kumar Mallah and Padma Shri Awardee Gulam Ahmad Saznawaz. These artists were instrumental in promoting Sufi music in the state. Several Kashmiri artists, including poets, writers and singers, took to the stage to entertain the audience and educate them about Sufi music at the same time. BSE closes points 318.95 up on May 23

New Delhi, May 23 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 318.95 points up to stand at 24,693.35. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 90.70 points up to stand at 7,367.10. Ashok Leyland and Canara Bank were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 15.22% and 14.05% along with Jain Irrigation and Syndicate Bank with an increase of 13.38% and 10.87% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include Gitanjali Gems and IPCA Lab with a decrease of 4.99% and 3.40% along with Indiabulls Real Estate and Cadila Health with a decrease of 3.29% and 2.59% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 246.33 points at 14,580.74 while the banking sector is up 283.49 points at 17,523.13 and the realty sector is up 40.75 points at 1,976.96.
