BSE closes points 339.90 down on Oct 10

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 339.90 points down to stand at 26,297.38. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 100.60 points down to stand at 7,859.95. JETAIRWAYS and ABAN were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 9.30% and 9.15% along with INFY and DEN with an increase of 6.49% and 6.01% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include KAILASH and UNITECH with a decrease of 10.93% and 6.33% along with JSWSTEEL and JINDAL STEEL with a decrease of 6.00% and 5.77% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is down 447.86 points at 17,396.24 while the banking sector is down 323.63 points at 17,694.23 and the reality sector is down 24.70 points at 1,592.08. New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): Children's rights activists Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan and Kailash Satyarthi of India were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize 2014 on Friday. The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced the names of the two "for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education." The award also comes with a $1.24 million check. Yousafzai, now 17, is a schoolgirl and education campaigner in Pakistan who was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman two years ago. Satyarthi, 60, has maintained the tradition of Mahatma Gandhi and headed various forms of peaceful protests, "focusing on the grave exploitation of children for financial gain," the Nobel committee said. The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a rural sanitation intervention, within the context of the Government of India's Total Sanitation Campaign, to prevent diarrhea, soil-transmitted helminth infection, and child malnutrition. The scientists conducting a cluster-randomized trial in 100 rural villages in Odisha, India and randomly assigned 50 villages to the intervention group and 50 villages to the control group. Puri, Oct 10 (ANI): Internationally famed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik on Friday urged for peace in Jammu and Kashmir state through his sculpture at Puri beach in Odisha. Pattnaik crafted a five feet long sculpture using three tonnes of sand with a message reading, "Bullets can't bring peace". The sand art also had replicas of national flags of both India and Pakistan, along with face of an injured child.
