BSE closes points 173.74 up on June 3

New Delhi, June 03 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 173.74 points up to stand at 24,858.59. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 53.35 points up to stand at 7,415.85. Suzlon Energy and Havells India were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 8.70% and 8.11% along with Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. and Tata Steel with an increase of 7.80% and 6.74% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include Mphasis and Wockhardt with a decrease of 3.85% and 3.37% along with Dr Reddys Lab and Shriram City University with a decrease of 3.07% and 2.80% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 45.56 points at 14,746.42 while the banking sector is down 37.58 points at 17,472.86 and the realty sector is up 60.43 points at 1,981.79. Politicos pay tribute to Gopinath Munde

New Delhi, June 03 (ANI): Political leaders from various political parties paid tribute to late BJP leader Gopinath Munde on Tuesday. Among those who paid tribute to Munde were Rajnath Singh, Murli Manohar Joshi, Vijay Goel, Harish Rawat, Hamid Ansari, Rahul Gandhi, LK Advani, Vasundhra Raje, Arun Jaitley, Ram Vilas Paswan and his son Chirag Paswan. Munde tragically passed away on Tuesday morning after meeting with an accident in Delhi's Prithviraj-Tughlak Road at around 6:30 am. SC dismisses Campa Cola Society residents' plea against eviction

New Delhi, June 03 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed any plea of residents of Campa Cola Housing Society against the earlier order asking them to vacate their premises by May 31. A bench comprising justices JS Khehar and C Nagappan said that they are of the view that the present petition is misconceived and hence, is dismissed. The bench also rejected the submission that at least the illegal flats be not demolished till the time Supreme Court decides the curative petition of residents association in the case. The Campa Cola Residents Association had filed a new petition to stop the demolition on the grounds that BMC be allowed to regularize the 35 illegal floors across seven buildings in the Worli society. SC extends Tarun Tejpal's interim bail till June 27

New Delhi, June 3 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday extended till June 27 the interim bail of Tehelka founder editor Tarun Tejpal in a sexual assault case lodged by a former employee of the group. A bench comprising justices J S Khehar and C Nagappan extended the interim bail. The apex court had on May 19 granted him interim bail for three weeks to enable him to attend the cremation of his mother, who had died on May 18, and subsequent rituals. Former External Affairs Minister and senior advocate Salman Khurshid, appearing for Tejpal, said that certain subsequent rituals after the death of his mother are yet to be performed and the interim bail be extended by at least three more weeks. Gopinath Munde died of cervical spine fracture and multiple tears in liver: Harsh Vardhan

New Delhi, June 03 (ANI): Based on post-mortem report of Late Gopinath Munde, Health Minister Harshvardhan said Munde had died because of cervical spine fracture and injuries in liver on Tuesday following a car accident. He said that the fracture of his cervical spine C1 and C2 cut off blood supply to his brain stem, which led to failures of his respiratory and cardiac centres. Vardhan added that there were also two to three tears in his liver, which led to collection of one-and-a-half to two litres of blood in his abdomen. Jun 3, 2014
