PM Modi salutes brave ITBP personnel on their Raising

New Delhi, Oct 24 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday saluted the brave personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on its Raising Day. "On the Raising Day of ITBP, I salute our brave ITBP personnel. We are proud of their valour, determination and service to the Nation," he said on Twitter. The ITBP was raised on October 24, 1962. Presently, the ITBP is deployed on border guarding duties from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh covering 3,488 km of Indo-China border and manning Border Outposts in the Western, Middle and Eastern Sector of the Indo-China border.

Pakistan's anti-India resolution meaningless, say Experts

Surajpur, Oct 24 (ANI): Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday saluted the brave ITBP personnel on their 53rd Raising Day. The ITBP was raised on October 24, 1962. Presently, the ITBP is deployed on border guarding duties from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh covering 3,488 km of Indo-China border and manning Border Outposts on altitudes raging from 9000' to 18700' in the Western, Middle and Eastern Sector of the Indo-China border. The ITBP is a specialized mountain force and most of the officers are professionally trained mountaineers and skiers. Being the first responder for natural disaster in the Himalayas, the ITBP has been carrying out numerous rescue and relief operations.

Mary Kom participates in 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan'

Imphal, Oct 24 (ANI): Champion pugilist M.C. Mary Kom on Friday wielded a broom and participated in the 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan' launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2. She appreciated the cleanliness drive. The 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' was launched nationwide to focus on sanitation, hygiene and waste management. It encourages people to sweep, remove garbage, debris and unauthorized encroachments from roads, markets and residential places. The 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' aims at making India a clean country by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Villagers in Tripura celebrate Kali Puja with security personnel

Agartala/New Delhi, Oct 24 (ANI): Villages along India-Bangladesh border in Tripura joined personnel of paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday (October 23) to offer special prayers and perform Kali Puja. Goddess Kali is the chief deity worshipped with grandeur by the people of Tripura and in West Bengal on the occasion of Diwali (festival of lights). Residents of bordering villages thronged the temple in Agartala and worshipped Goddess Kali according to the rituals and made assortment of religious offerings to the Hindu goddess. They were delighted to spend the festival along with BSF troops. BSF troops and villagers burnt fire crackers and danced to celebrate the festival that coincides with Diwali.

7-year-old Dalit boy allegedly assaulted for entering temple, Politicos React

New Delhi, Oct 24 (ANI): A seven-year-old dalit boy on Monday was allegedly brutally thrashed by a priest after he entered the sanctum sanctorum of a temple on Bangalore's outskirts. Meanwhile, politicos reacting over the incident on Friday condemned the act of priest and said that stern action should be against him. BJP leader Nalin Kohli said that stern action should be taken against the accused and said that the act can never be a part of civilized society. Venkaiah Naidu wields broom to clean cyclone-hit Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam, Oct 24 (ANI): Urban Development Minister, M Venkaiah Naidu, on Friday picked up the broom to clean cyclone-hit port city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cleanliness campaign. Andhra Pradesh and Odisha were recently hit by cyclone Hudhud that left a trail of destruction and killed around 41 people. It ripped apart tens of thousands of mud-and-thatch homes, flattened rice, banana and sugarcane plantations and snapped electricity lines. Prime Minister Modi launched the nationwide cleanliness mission on October 02 to raise awareness of cleanliness and better sanitation among its citizens under the banner of 'Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan' or Clean India Mission. On Friday, Naidu said Mahatma Gandhi had made inspiring statement that "cleanliness is next to godliness." To drive home his point, Modi had ordered government workers including his ministers to participate in the drive. However, Naidu added India can only be cleaned with the efforts put in by all citizens, who should volunteer with the aim to improve health problems.

Russian Women faces molestation during medical examination

New Delhi, Oct 24 (ANI): The 32-year-old Russian tourist who was allegedly molested on the Goa beach by some unidentified person submitted a complaint to the Russian consular officials stating that she was molested again by a senior medical officer at the Goa Medical College (GMC) hospital after the police referred her there for a "medical examination". Chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women Barkha Shukla said that the incident is very shameful and the tourists should be treated well when they visit our country.

Politicos react on Modi's Kashmir visit

New Delhi, Oct 24 (ANI): Politicos on Friday gave mixed reactions on PM Narendra Modi's Kashmir visit. Modi on Thursday visited Siachen, the world's highest battlefield in the Himalayan region, on the day of Diwali, and interacted with soldiers. Asserting that the BJP government stands with flood victims of Jammu and Kashmir in rehabilitation work, Prime Minister Modi also announced 570 crore rupees package for rebuilding homes in the devastated Kashmir Valley. Modi, who met Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra at the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar, also announced 175 crore rupees for reconstruction of six major hospitals.
