Politicos disapprove BJPs demand of governors resignation

New Delhi, June 18 (ANI): Politicos on Wednesday condemned ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after it demanded resignation of governors appointed by previous Congress government. CPI leader, Atul Anjan, said the BJP has equated the post of governor to that of a security guard. Congress leader, P.C. Chacko, downplayed the issue. Politicos on reports of BJP to form government in Delhi

New Delhi, June 18 (ANI): Political leaders on Wednesday reacted over reports that the BJP might form government in Delhi before Parliament opens for the budget session in the second week of July. However, in between all of it, few AAP MLAs have stated that they were offered money by the BJP to quit their party and join BJP and help them form government in Delhi. AAP MLAs allege BJP offered them money to join their party

New Delhi, June 18 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party MLAs have alleged that they have been contacted by BJP and asked to break away from the party and help the BJP form the government in Delhi. Five AAP MLAs said that they had been promised financial incentives for breaking away from the party. Encephalitis spreading in Bihar, at least 92 dead

New Delhi, June 18 (ANI): Situation in Bihar is turning critical with the spreading of Encephalitis that took at least 92 lives till Wednesday. BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that the State government should take immediate steps to curb the problem and save people from catching this disease. He added that the Centre is ready to provide every possible help to State. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav reshuffles UP Cabinet, politicos react

Lucknow, June 18 (ANI): After Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav met all ministers of his government and directed them to shape up or ship out, government ordered late night reshuffle of key cabinet portfolios on Tuesday. In the first major post-LS poll decision that affects SP ministers, the government downgraded many ministers and promoted some. At least 12 portfolios have changed hands, and prominent among them are Balram Yadav, who has been divested of the charge of Panchayati Raj and appointed Minister for Prisons. Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary was made Minister for Political Pensions. He was earlier Minister for Prisons. Meanwhile, reacting over this, Congress leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi said that mere reshuffling will not work, the ministers appointed should be allowed to do work. Meanwhile, the BJP targeted Akhilesh over this and said that the CM changed portfolios of ministers because they were not performing well but Akhilesh should introspect himself also because the ministries under him are also not doing well. Another candidate dies in Mumbai police recruitment drive, BJP demands probe

Mumbai, June 18 (ANI): Another candidate died on Wednesday in the Mumbai police recruitment drive which had attracted thousands of aspirants from across the state. At least five candidates have died till now in the drive due to tough training and poor living conditions. Twenty four year old candidate, Gahininath Latpate, passed away in Mulund's Platinum hospital, where he was admitted after falling ill during training. BJP leader Kirit Somaiya questioned the carelessness behind the unfortunate deaths. The candidates said they have to put up with lack of proper lodging and facilities. Politicians clamour for Nihal Chand's resignation

New Delhi, June 18 (ANI): Political leaders across parties have slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for failing to take any action against Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Nihal Chand, who is an accused in a rape case of a married woman. The court in Jaipur, Rajasthan had summoned Chand and 17 others after a 20-year-old woman filed a complaint accusing her husband and his friends, including the minister, in a sexual assault case. Algiers, June 18 (ANI): Algeria's hopes of beginning with a win were dashed on Tuesday as Belgium came from behind to beat them 2-1. Thousands of fans in Algiers' La Grande Post place cheered when Sofiane Feghouli scored from a penalty in the 25th minute to put Algeria in the lead. But Belgium came back in the second half, first with an equaliser from Fellaini in the 70th minute, and then Mertens seized the winner in the 80th. Yashwant Sinha granted bail by Jharkhand court

Hazaribagh, June 18 (ANI): Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha on Wednesday was granted bail by a Jharkhand court, days after he was arrested for leading a demonstration against the poor power conditions in the state. He was arrested on June 2 and was sent to judicial custody after he refused to furnish a bail bond. Sinha applied for bail, a day after senior BJP leader LK Advani on Tuesday met him in Hazaribagh jail. After meeting Sinha, Advani had felt the latter should play a bigger role in the state. As many as 300 workers were taken into custody along with Sinha for allegedly assaulting Jharkhand State Electricity Board official over a power crisis issue in the state. Jun 18, 2014

India stays in constant touch with nationals stranded in Iraq

New Delhi, June 18 (ANI): India said on Wednesday that it is in regular touch with the nationals stranded in Iraq overrun by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), as it has decided to send a diplomat to support the embassy in its efforts. MEA Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin, said security of the Indian nationals in Iraq remains a matter of serious concern. Akbaruddin also said they are assisting all callers by providing helpline numbers in New Delhi. Akbaruddin further said the violence in Iraq was not targeted towards Indian nationals.
