PM Modi holds talk with Vietnam PM to boost ties

New Delhi, Oct 28 (ANI): Vietnam Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung, met his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday (October 28) to boost bilateral and regional ties. Earlier in the day, Dung received a ceremonial reception at Presidential Palace, Rashtrapati Bhawan. Dung, accompanied by his wife, Tran Tanh Kiem, also visited the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi and paid rich tributes. Dung arrived in India on Monday and began his two-day visit by landing in Bihar where he visited holy town Bodh Gaya and paid obeisance at Mahabodi Temple, believed to be the site of Lord Buddha's enlightenment. The strengthening of ties between India and Vietnam, in defence as well comes as both are embroiled in territorial disputes with China.

Hindu devotees in Gorakhpur throng markets to prepare for 'Chhath'

Gorakhpur, Oct 28 (ANI): Thousands of Hindu devotees in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh thronged markets to buy the traditional items required to celebrate the Sun God festival, 'Chhath'. A devotee Bimla Mishra said that the festival is very important and is considered extremely auspicious. The Chhath, celebrated on the sixth and seventh day after Diwali, is significant for married women who observe a three-day fast and standing in waist-deep river water, present religious offerings to the Sun God. According to tradition, on the first day, devotees, mostly women, take a dip in the river and begin fasting. Another devotee, Manju Tripathi, said that devotees fast for the fulfillment of their wishes. On the second day, rituals are performed at home. Chhath is considered an extremely auspicious festival by the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The festival has also gained popularity in metropolitan cities like Kolkata, Pune and Mumbai, too, where there are large numbers of migrants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

Politicos react after reports say BJP likely to be invited to form govt in Delhi

New Delhi/Mumbai, Oct 28 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Tuesday after media reports hinted over Governor Najeeb Jung getting nod from President Pranab Mukherjee to invite the single largest party BJP to form government in Delhi. Congress Party leader JP Aggarwal alleged that LG Najeeb Jung was acting under pressure. AAP leader Manish Sisodia said that LG Najeeb Jung should re-think over the issue. He added that if BJP forms its government, then it would not be beneficial for the people of Delhi. BJP leader Sambit Patra said that if any offer comes from LG Najeeb Jung to form government then BJP will give an appropriate reply in accordance with the constitution. However, NCP leader Nawab Malik said that Delhi has been under President's rule from a long time and it will be good if a government is formed in Delhi.

Police bust militant module in Kashmir, arrest two members

Sopore, Oct 28 (ANI): Police busted a militant module by arresting two members in Jammu and Kashmir, said a senior officer. Superintendent of Police, Abdul Qayoom, said the module was set up by Pakistan-based militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba and used to provide logistics to the extremists in Sopore district. Militants have been frequently attacking security bases in Kashmir since the 1990s, when there was a full-blown insurgency against Indian rule in a region over which India and Pakistan fought two of their three wars.

Vietnam PM receives ceremonial reception at presidential palace in New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 28 (ANI): Vietnam Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung received a ceremonial reception on Tuesday at the Presidential Palace, Rashtrapati Bhawan by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his two-day visit to India to enhance bilateral and regional ties. He was received by Modi and a retinue of Indian officials after which he inspected a ceremonial Guard of Honour. Later Dung, accompanied with his wife, Tran Tanh Kiem visited the memorial of India's iconic freedom fighter, Mahatma Gandhi in the capital, New Delhi. Dung's visit to India comes just a month after India's president, Pranab Mukherjee, travelled to his country.

Japan's SoftBank CEO meets PM Narendra Modi in New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 28 (ANI): Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Japan-based telecom giant SoftBank Corporation, Masayoshi Son held a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Vietnam's Prime Minister invites Indian business leaders to invest in Vietnam

New delhi, Oct 28 (ANI): Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung invited Indian business leaders to invest in his country's infrastructure projects. Dung addressed a seminar hosted by India's leading industry bodies such as the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in New Delhi. Dung hoped that the investors would enjoy the mutual benefits in Vietnam and bolster bilateral trade between the two countries. Vietnam PM and Jitan Ram Manjhi hold talks to promote tourism

Gaya, Oct 28 (ANI): Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Chief Minister of Bihar Jitan Ram Manjhi held talks to promote tourism between the two countries. Addressing a news conference, Manjhi said the two leaders held talks on establishing direct air route between Vietnam and Bihar. Manjhi also said that Dung has agreed upon organising a Vietnam business conclave in Bihar and vice-versa. Meanwhile, Dung said the strategic ties between the countries have benefited the world. The two also agreed upon further strengthening ties in farming, fisheries, food processing, education and tourism sector, apart from improving facilities for tourists visiting Buddhist centre of Bodh Gaya in Bihar.
