Jaipur offers prayers for peace on 6th anniversary of 2008 serial blasts

Jaipur, May 14 (ANI): Hailing peace and harmony, the residents of pink city of Jaipur in Rajasthan offered prayers to commemorate the sixth anniversary of the 2008 serial blasts that blew away more than 60 lives in the city. According to official sources, nine bombs exploded in markets and near a temple in Jaipur in a span of fifteen minutes, killing around 60 and wounding over 150 people on May 13, 2008. The residents of the city, on Tuesday, thronged the temple of Lord Hanuman, one of the blast sites, to perform prayers for those killed in the blast and also to hail peace in the city. The blasts triggered a stampede- like situation at the sites, crammed with peak-hour shoppers as panic-stricken people ran helter skelter in search of a safe place. May 14, 2014

Sonia to host farewell dinner for Manmohan Singh today, Politicos react

New Delhi, May 14 (ANI): Congress president Sonia Gandhi will host a farewell dinner for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday. According to sources a memento is also expected to be presented to Dr Singh signed by all members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) and Union Ministers. Maoists attack Lohardaga bauxite mines, set vehicles on fire

Lohardaga, May 14 (ANI): Naxalites in Lohardaga town of Jharkhand raid the Pakhar mines, assaulted workers and set fire to trucks and a tractor. They made the labourers hand over their mobile phones before setting fire to the trucks and tractor and threatened to return if any attempt was made to douse the fire. A witness, Gopal, told reporters what actually happened. Police and authorities arrived at the scene of the attack and investigation is still in progress. Superintendent of Police Mrityunjay Kumar said that the attack was orchestrated by local Naxals. Maoists, also known as Naxals, have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks in an insurgency that has killed thousands since the 1960s. May 14, 2014

Politicos condemn Giriraj Singh's 'all terrorist from one community' remark

New Delhi/ Nagpur, May 14 (ANI): Political leaders on Wednesday condemned Giriraj Singh's remark wherein he asked why all terrorists belong to one community. Congress leader Meem Afzal and NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that it shows that BJP uses religion in everything and that Singh is an immature politician. Reacting on the same, Congress leader Meem Afzal and Rashid Alvi said that these books are coming as the government is about to change and these people are to leave the position they are holding, with the purpose of gaining credibility in the BJP. Mumbai, May 14 (ANI): The cast and crew of India's National Award winning films 'Shahid' and 'Ship of Theseus' came together to celebrate the success of their movie in entertainment capital Mumbai. Director of Bollywood film 'Shahid', Hansal Mehta, filmmaker Kiran Rao and Chief of Disney UTV movies, Siddharth Roy Kapur were also present during the celebrations. Both the movies received the National Film Awards in May. Hansal Mehta received the Best Director award for 'Shahid' and Raj Kumar Rao won the Best Actor for the same film. 'Ship of Theseus' won the award for Best Feature Film. Kiran Rao, wife of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, was involved with the promotion of indie film 'Ship of Theseus' for Indian cinema that has been directed by Anand Gandhi. Residents of Murshidabad fall sick after consuming temple food

Murshidabad, May 14 (ANI): In a likely case of food poisoning, around 300 residents of Murshidabad district in West Bengal fell sick after consuming food served in a temple, as per reports. Locals said that people who ate the food served as a part of the temple offering started vomiting and started showing dysenteric symptoms. People suffering with stomach infection were admitted to a local hospital and Murshidabad medical college.
