1 BSF jawan killed, 3 injured in ceasefire violation By Pakistan

Jammu, July 16 (ANI): Pakistani Rangers on Wednesday resorted to unprovoked firing once again at an outpost along the international border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, killing a jawan. Three other BSF personnel and four civilians were also injured during the firing. The injured soldiers and the civilians were rushed to the nearby hospital in Jammu city. According to reports, BSF troops, guarding the borderline, took positions and effectively retaliated resulting in exchanges which are still going on in the area. Jul 16, 2014

Poverty, child and maternal deaths still high in India, states UN Report

New Delhi/ Bhubaneswar, July 16 (ANI): A United Nations report on ___Millennium Development Goals___ stated that India continues to battle poverty, child and maternal deaths and sanitation, adding sustained efforts were required to cover the gap by 2015 deadline. Minority affairs minister, Najma Heptulla, while releasing the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDG) report on Wednesday said the four references in the report were not flattering. Many more goals are within reach by their 2015 target date, the report said, adding that if current trends continue, the world will surpass MDG targets on malaria, tuberculosis and access to HIV treatment. At Least 20 Dead in Moscow Subway Crash

BRICS Summit clears setting up of $100 billion New Development Bank with India's presidency first

Brazil, July 16 (ANI): Leaders of the five BRICS countries met for the first working session in Brazil in a major victory for India, sealed the agreement on the much anticipated 100 billion dollars BRICS Development Bank. The new development bank of the group of BRICS countries will be headquartered in Shanghai, China, with the presidency initially held by India. The deal was reached after intense last-minute negotiations to settle a dispute between India and China over the headquarters of the new bank, which will have initial capital of $100 billion to invest in infrastructure projects. Negotiations to create the bank dragged on for more than two years as Brazil and India fought China's attempts to get a bigger share in the lender than the others.
