Hindus mark second Shravan Monday with special prayers and offerings

Varanasi, July 21 (ANI): Carrying assortment of religious offerings, devout Hindus thronged lord Shiva temples in north India to offer special prayers, as they marked the auspicious second Monday of month long 'Shravan' festival. The devotees on Monday gathered in large numbers to offer milk, curd, ghee, honey and holy water to Lord Shiva in wee hours of morning. Long queues of people waiting with assortment of religious offerings like joss sticks, red vermilion and flowers were seen outside the temples. The saffron-clad devotees of Lord Shiva known as Kanwaria take their foot journey to the Hindu pilgrimage places of Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand to fetch holy waters of Ganges River. Encephalitis threat looms over Assam

Guwahati, July 21 (ANI): Encephalitis syndrome threat looms large over in Assam, while experts have sounded alert due to significant rise in number of cases reported that have been tested positive. The deadly disease is gradually taking a toll in Guwahati city since the month of June and has resulted in death of four people so far. The deceased includes two adults and two children who were undergoing treatment in the Guwahati Medical College Hospital. Principal of Guwahati Medical College Hospital, Ramen Talukdar said that the patients suffering from the Japanese Encephalitis have been kept under strict observation in the hospital. Patients admitted in the hospital belong to the surrounding districts like Nalbari, Darrang and Goalpara. Around 22 districts of Assam are Encephalitis affected. Jul 21, 2014

ABVP protests outside Bangalore School over 6-year old girl___s rape

Bangalore, July 21 (ANI): BJP___s youth wing, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), staged a protest outside the Vibgyor School in Bangalore where a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the school staff. Indian Army defuses two live mortar shells in Kashmir

RS Pura, July 21 (ANI): Indian Army defused two live mortar shells in a village in R.S. Pura sector in Jammu city of Jammu and Kashmir. The explosives were recovered following the cross-border firing which started on July 16 when Pakistani side targeted an Indian post in RS Pura sector in which a soldier died and three others were injured. Police to present arrested accused in sexual assault of minor in Bangalore before Court

Discussion on Gaza violence to be held in Rajya Sabha
