XIAN, June 27 (ANI): Vice-President, Hamid Ansari, who is on a five-day visit to China, on Friday (June 27) met Secretary, Shaanxi Provincial Committee, Zhao Zhengyong . The Vice-President had arrived in Xian city on Thursday and would go to Beijing today with his delegation to boost bilateral relations between the two nations. N Chandrababu Naidu to visit GAIL blast site with Petroleum Minister

New Delhi/ Andhra Pradesh, June 27 (ANI): After at least 14 people were were burnt to death and several others were injured in a huge gas pipeline blast in the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, state Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu ordered probe in the case. Cutting short his New Delhi trip, Naidu is rushing to East Godavari to reach the accident spot. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is also expected to accompany Naidu to the accident site. He also constituted a committee for the investigation. DU admissions: Students protest, go on hunger strike demanding VC's resignation

New Delhi, June 27 (ANI): Delhi University students have started an indefinite hunger strike demanding the resignation of Delhi University (DU) Vice Chancellor (VC) Dinesh Singh and an immediate rollback of the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP). Dhruv Sangwan, South Campus President from Indian National Students' Organization ( INSO ) said that students were suffering due to the confusion at the time of admission. Meanwhile, many protesting students and teachers have also gathered outside the VC's residence demanding his resignation. The standoff between the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Delhi University has resulted in an inordinate delay in the admission procedure. Hafiz Saeed denies JuD being a 'foreign terrorist organisation' as claimed by US

Lahore, June 27 (ANI): The US State Department has named a self-proclaimed Pakistani charity as a "foreign terrorist organisation", a status that freezes any assets it has under US jurisdiction. Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) calls itself a humanitarian charity but is widely seen as a front organisation for the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET), a Pakistan-based group accused of orchestrating attacks in India, including the 2008 Mumbai attack that killed 166 people. However, Hafiz Saeed, who founded LeT and now leads JuD, lashed out at the United States government for targeting JuD in the name of LeT without having any proof. At least 12 killed in blast at GAIL pipeline in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh, June 27 (ANI): At least 12 people were killed and 18 others injured after an explosion at a gas pipeline at the site of the state-owned Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) in Andhra Pradesh. The blast took place at 5:30 AM due to a gas leak in a pipeline near a refinery at Nagaram, around 560 km from Hyderabad. A massive fire broke out after the blast. Eight fire engines were rushed to the spot and the fire has been brought under control, officials said. The gas supply line has been cut off. Meanwhile, Prime Minister expressed condolences and tweeted, "My thoughts with the families of those who lost their lives in the GAIL Pipeline fire in AP. Prayers with the injured." He also said, "I have spoken to the Petroleum Minister, Cabinet Secretary and GAIL Chairman and asked them to ensure immediate relief at the accident site."According to official sources, those who suffered burns are being shifted to Amalapuram and Kakinada hospitals. Lakshmikant Sharma and others sent to judicial custody over Vyapam scam

Bhopal, June 27 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Former minister was sent to jail over alleged involvement in Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, in which many government employees are under scanner for getting selected through unfair means. Special Task Force (STF) constituted for an investigation into MPPEB scam, or Vyapam scam, detained Laxmikant Sharma, former state technical education minister, for interrogation. STF inspector, Indresh Tripathi, said total 15 people have been sent to judicial custody. India's Congress party had accused leaders of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of being involved in the scam. India grants financial aid to Bangladesh for implementation of development projects

Dhaka, June 27 (ANI): India announced grant of nearly $10 million to Bangladesh for implementation of various small development projects and also assured it to address trade imbalance issue. The grant was announced by Foreign Minster Sushma Swaraj, who is on a visit to Bangladesh to bolster bilateral ties and also discuss important matters like Teesta water sharing and Land Boundary Agreement and the issue of illegal immigration. UGC rejects DU's proposal, asks it to begin admissions today

New Delhi, June 27 (ANI): The UGC on Friday rejected the Delhi University's proposal to amend the four-year undergraduate programme. It has directed the varsity to revert to its 3-year course and start the admissions on Friday itself. The UGC's directive comes a day after the DU sent an alternative proposal to restore the FYUP with a few amendments in it, as a way to end the deadlock.
