Youth wing of Bangladesh ruling party mourns Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's killing

Dhaka, Aug 13 (ANI): Supporters of youth wing of Bangladesh's ruling Awami League, Jubo League recently participated in a mourning procession ahead of the 40th death anniversary of the founding father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who was assassinated during an army coup in 1975 along with his family members. Jubo League supporters came out in droves in Dhaka and marched on to the streets. Mujibur, or Mujib as he was popularly called, was killed along with most of the members of his family in a 1975 revolt by young army officers. One of his two surviving daughters, Sheikh Hasina, is now the country's prime minister. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina set up the war crimes tribunal in 2010 to investigate abuses during the 1971 war. Manipur felicitates Common Wealth Games medallists

Imphal, Aug 13 (ANI): Indian medallists in the recently-concluded Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow were felicitated by the government of Manipur for their impressive show in the multi-sport event at a star-studded function recently. The cash incentive awards were distributed to the state's medallists at an event held at the Khuman Lampak indoor stadium in Imphal. India had sent 224-member contingent at 2014 Commonwealth Games Glasgow, which ended after 11 days of action across 17 sports. India, host of the last Commonwealth Games, finished fifth on the tally with 64 medals comprising 15gold, 30 silver and 19 bronze medals. Maoists approximately 100 in numbers attacked the construction workers with batons and blasted the heavy machines at the site. Muzaffarnagar organizes marathon to spread communal harmony

Muzaffarnagar, Aug 13 (ANI): In a bid to unite people from all faiths in riot-hit Muzaffarnagar city of Uttar Pradesh, a marathon was organised on Tuesday to spread the message of peace and communal harmony. Muzaffarnagar is a flashpoint in Uttar Pradesh in which some 60 people were killed in Hindu-Muslim riots last year. The marathon saw participation of around 4,000 children, along with journalists, police officials, and members of various women and civil society organisations. The event concluded with a cultural function featuring Independence Day-themed programmes. The five-kilometre marathon is an annual event and was organised for the third time in a row.
