Mumbai, Maharashtra, Dec 20 (ANI): Devyani Khobragade's father Uttam Khobragade on Saturday said that the government officials can talk to the press without the permission of government and that such an action won't violate any civil service rule. Defending his daughter Devyani, Uttam Khobragade said that the government official cannot criticize any government policy while talking to press and Devyani didn't speak about or against government. Sarpanch shot dead by militants in Sopore

Sopore, Dec 20 (ANI): A village sarpanch was shot dead by suspected militants in Sopore town of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Saturday. The sarpanch, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, was shot dead when polling was on for the fifth and final phase of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Bhat succumbed to his bullet injuries while being shifted to the hospital. An FIR has been registered in the case and investigation has been initiated to identify the culprit. In Jammu and Kashmir, the voting is taking place for 20 assembly seats in border districts of Jammu, Kathua and Rajouri. There are 213 candidates in the fray in this phase. Dec 20, 2014

At least five patients loose eyesight after operation in Himachal Pradesh

Kangra, Dec 20 (ANI): At least five patients have lost their eyesight after operation at a free eye surgery camp in Himachal Pradesh, said a probing official. The Himachal Pradesh government has set up an inquiry commission under Doctor SK Sharma, to conduct speedy probe into the incident in Kangra district. Sharma said the operation took place in Pathankot town of neighbouring state of Punjab at a private hospital. Nearly 60 people underwent cataract surgeries at the camp. Congress leader Manish Tewari accused the BJP government of double speak and not taking a decision in favour of Devyani as they supported her as Opposition during previous government. New Delhi, Dec 20 (ANI): The Union Home Ministry has issued fresh guidelines to schools across the country over security measures, days after militants in Peshawar killed 132 innocent school children. The fresh Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for schools issued by the MHA has advisory such as concrete boundary walls with at least three to four gates and three telephone lines at the main gate. The SOP also says that telephone number of nearest police station and PCR van should be displayed prominently in schools. It also emphasized on giving importance to CCTV cameras and alarm system.
