Muslims in Kerala mark Eid-al-Adha with prayers

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 5 (ANI): Muslims in Kerala attended morning prayers and greeted each other in mosques and open grounds on the occasion of Eid-al-Adha on Sunday, marking the end of annual Haj in holy land of Mecca. The festival, also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice, is a day to commemorate the Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail on God's command. Men, women and children attended the morning prayers that were held at the central stadium in Thiruvananthapuram city. Wives of suspected militants in Burdwan blast case arrested for enquiry

Burdwan/ New Delhi, Oct 05 (ANI): Two women were arrested and remanded to police custody for two weeks in connection with the explosion at Khagragarh area of Burdwan that left two suspected militants dead. Rajira Bibi is the widow of suspected militant Shakil Ahmed, who was killed in the explosion in a house at Khagragarh on October 2, while Amina Bibi is the wife of Hasan Saheb, who was critically injured in the blast and is under treatment at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital. The two suspected militants were killed and another was injured when an explosion occurred in a house inhabited by them on Thursday. According to police officials, large number of watch dials, SIM cards, and other tools required to make improvised explosive devices were found in the house. Owner of the two-storey house, Hasan Chowdhury, who lives in another house across the road, said he had given the first floor to Shakil Ahmed, the deceased, on a monthly rent of Rs 4,700 but he did not know the identity of the two others. Supporters of Jayalalithaa pray for her release in Chennai

Chennai, Oct 05 (ANI): Supporters of regional party All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Sunday performed special prayers for the release of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who was pronounced guilty in the disproportionate assets case. In Chennai, AIADMK ministers and legislatures have been protesting every day in various ways to show their displeasure over former chief's arrest. AIADMK councilor, MM Babu said prayers and the wishes of the down trodden of the society will help Jayalalithaa's release. Jayalalithaa was sentenced to four years in jail in the disproportionate assets case by a special court in Bangalore.
