MEA briefing on Modi's second day of Japan visit

Kyoto, Aug 31 (ANI): The Spokesperson of MEA Syed Akbaruddin on Sunday briefed about the programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's second day of Japan visit. Akbaruddin said that Modi visited the temple, research lab institute and met the mayor of Kyoto on the second day of his visit. He added that the first step towards the development of Varanasi has been taken by signing a MoU and that Modi has given the map of historic Benaras to mayor of Kyoto for its development keeping the culture and historicity intact. India and Nepal hold joint war training session, Surya Kiran 7

Pithoragarh, Aug 31 (ANI): India holds a 14-day-long joint-war training session, Surya Kiran-7, with the Nepali Army at Pithoragarh city of Uttarakhand. The main aim of the session was to strengthen relations between the two nations, especially the army, so as to avoid any possible conflicts. Lieutenant General of Gorkha regiment, Pithoragarh, Ashwin Kumar, said the aim of the session was that both nations learn the good acts and tackling methods from each other. Congress criticizes BJP for hiking diesel prices

New Delhi, Aug 31 (ANI): Congress leader Rashid Alvi on Sunday criticized the government for increasing the price of diesel and said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) used to protest against the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) when fuel prices were hiked during their regime. Yesterday, the prices of petrol were cut by Rs 1.82 per litre while diesel prices were hiked by 50 paise per litre. The rates of non-subsidized LPG were also reduced by 19 rupees per cylinder.
