Clash between two Maoist factions claims one life in Jharkhand

Latehar, Aug 17 (ANI): One person was killed as members of two Maoists factions exchanged fire for over three hours in Churiyan village of Jharkhand. As the clash continued till the wee hours on Saturday, panic-stricken villagers locked themselves up in their homes until the fight stopped. Deputy Superintendent of Police, Roshan Gudia, said investigation in the case has begun and they have already identified the two groups. Saharanpur riots: BJP MP named in probe report by 5 member committee

New Delhi, Aug 17 (ANI): A five-member committee on Sunday submitted its report on the causes of the communal violence in Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh last month to the state's Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. While the panel blamed the local administration for failing to bring the riots under control in the initial stage, it also accused local BJP MP Raghav Lakhanpal of inciting communal hatred in the area. Floods and landslides grind normal life to a halt in northern India

West Bengal/ Uttarakhand, Aug 17 (ANI): Incessant rains leading to heavy floods and landslides across various cities of northern India disrupted routine lives of people and caused immense damage to life and property. Rescue operations are underway in Uttarakhand state as cloudburst isolated villages, washed away roads and bridges and turned normal life topsy turvy. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) dug out two people buried under debris due to landslides and floods in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. The situation is no less dangerous in northern Haridwar city and Jalpaiguri city of West Bengal, where houses collapsed due to torrential rains and massive floods. Bangladesh PM alleges BNP founder involved in killing of father of the nation

Dhaka, Aug 17 (ANI): Bangladesh Prime Minister alleged that the founder of the opposition, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Ziaur Rahman was involved in the killing of the father of the nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with most of his family, 39 years ago. Mujibur, or Mujib as he was popularly called, was killed along with most of his family members on August 15, 1975 in a revolt by young army officers. One of his two surviving daughters, Sheikh Hasina, is now the country's prime minister.
