Two Maoists surrender in Chhattisgarh

Bijapur, Oct 4 (ANI): Two Maoists surrendered in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh due to discriminatory policies by the Naxal organization. The two rebels surrendered after they got to know about the rehabilitation programme for the Maoists and they were also awarded with rupees 10,000 each. The two Maoists have been identified as Yalam Samaiya and Dubba Kanhaiya and they were working for 10 years with a Maoist organization. Maoists, also known as Naxals, have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks in an insurgency that has killed thousands since 1960s. Oct 4, 2014

Mong Kok tense after violence

New Delhi, Oct 4 (ANI): The tension in the Mong Kok district of Hong Kong was evident in the wake of the clashes overnight between pro-democracy protesters and their opponents. The democracy campaigners are vowing to carry on regardless. Some are accusing the pro-Beijing opposition of orchestrated harassment. Police said they'd arrested 19 people since Friday, including suspected members of the infamous Triad gangs. The pro-democracy protesters are demanding the resignation of Hong Kong's chief executive, which he's rejected. Karnal, Oct 04 (ANI): Ahead of assembly polls to be conducted in Haryana and Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi kick started the election campaign on Saturday. Addressing a rally in Haryana's Karnal district Modi said that to ensure development of the state, people need to vote for a Congress-free government. Modi said that the Haryana government is spreading lies and saying that the central government has stopped exporting Basmati rice. However, in reality, Congress in Haryana has imposed 4 per cent tax. The PM further said that Congress government did not do anything for pilgrims travelling to Kailash Mansarovar yatra whereas Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) opened a new road to facilitate their travel. Modi said that to determine a better future for the state, people have to vote for Congress-free Haryana. He added that people need to elect a stable government in Haryana with majority which will allow him to do work in the state. JKNPP protest as food grains meant for J and K flood victims rot

Jammu/Srinagar, Oct 4 (ANI): Members of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party staged a hunger strike in Jammu city, demanding stringent action against officials responsible for the rotting of food grains meant for flood victims. District administration of Udhampur dumped the soiled relief material in a community hall, which has been rotting on a railway station. JKNPP MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia demanded probe into the incident. The government of Jammu and Kashmir has decided to provide free ration -50 kilogram each -to the flood affected families for six months. Indian wrestling team arrives in New Delhi after bagging medals in Asiad

New Delhi, Oct 04 (ANI): Indian wrestlers Yogeshwar Dutt and Bajrang arrived in New Delhi on Saturday after bagging gold and silver medal respectively at the 17th Asian Games held in Incheon in South Korea. Dutt outshone Tajikistan's Zalimkhan Yusupov in the men's 65 kg freestyle wrestling match by 1-0, whereas Bajrang had to settle with a silver medal after losing the men's freestyle 61kg final match with 1-3 score to Iran. His compatriot Narsingh Pancham Yadav settled for a bronze in 74kg freestyle. Speaking to mediapersons, Dutt expressed his happiness over the win. Unprovoked firing by Pak rangers leave at least one dead, four injured in Poonch

Poonch/New Delhi, Oct 04 (ANI): Unprovoked firing and ceasefire violations by Pakistani Rangers at Indian positions along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir left one dead and injures four civilians. Some civilians sustained injuries while some lost their houses. The entire Gagrian village in the Poonch sector was affected due to firing. Senior Superintendent of Police Shamsher Hussain said there was huge amount of Mortar Shelling and firing was been carried out from both the sides. Meanwhile, Indian troops also retaliated in Saujian area of Poonch sector. However, JD (U) Leader Ali Anwar said it is a very serious matter and India should initiate the dialogue process. Prices of sacrificial animals go up every year ahead of Eid al-Adha, which will be celebrated on Monday across the country. Livestock prices have shoot up in Bijnor city and Patna city. Eid-al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is a Muslim festival which commemorates the obedience of the prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son when ordered to by God. Major Fire in Agra's Lohar Gali guts over 250 shops

Agra, Oct 04 (ANI): A major fire broke out early on Saturday morning in the famed Lohar Gali area of Agra. Over 250 shops were gutted and several residential flats got damaged in the fire that broke out in a famous market in Agra city of Uttar Pradesh. Around eight fire brigade vans were called in to control the blaze that began at around 2:00 AM. Locals also raised the need for calling the military. ISIS releases another video beheading British citizen, UK and US vows to bring justice

New Delhi, Oct 04 (ANI): Islamic State militants fighting in Iraq and Syria released a video which purported to show the beheading of a man identified as British citizen Alan Henning. The video showed a man in an orange jumpsuit kneeling in a landscape who was identified as Henning. The kneeling man in the video says, "Because of our parliament's decision to attack the Islamic State, I, as a member of the British public, will now pay the price for that decision,". A male voice then says, "The blood of David Haines was on your hands Cameron," in a reference to Britain's prime minister. At least 32 people killed and many other injured in Patna stampede, probe underway

Patna, Oct 04 (ANI): At least 32 people were killed and manyothers injured in a major stampede in Patna city of Bihar during celebrations of Dussehra. The incident took place at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Eyewitness's said that chaos was created after an electric wire fell on the ground. According to reports, most of the deceased are women and children. The injured were immediately rushed to Patna Medical College Hospital. District Magistrate, Manish Verma confirmed the death toll and said that the injured were under treatment in the hospital. Meanwhile, locals blamed the absence of any lighting at the venue for the accident and also the police who they alleged had kept two of the four exits closed for the VIP movement.
