Specially-abled children on dance floor light up nine- day festival in Surat

Surat, Oct 01 (ANI): Specially-abled children lit up the dance floor as they participated in the traditional group dance of Gujarat, 'Dandiya,' performed in honour of Mother Goddess, Durga, during the Navratri, the Hindu festival of nine-nights. Navratri Festival is known for its privileged society and high profile celebrations with the affluent class visiting exclusive clubs for the celebrations. However, this year, the festival also brought immense joy for children with special needs who were allowed to participate in the fun. Organiser of the event, Vaishali Rajesh Kotecha, said such an event will help erase discrimination against these children in society. Politicos express grief on train accident near Gorakhpur

New Delhi, Oct 01 (ANI): Politicos on Wednesday expressed profound grief over the train accident near Gorakhpur. At least 14 people have died and 45 have been left seriously injured, after the Krishak Express hit the Lucknow-Barauni Express near Gorakhpur late on Tuesday night. Union Railway Minister DV Sadananda Gowda announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of those who died in the tragedy, Rs 1 lakh each to those grievously injured and Rs 20,000 each to those who sustained less serious injuries. Elders walk down Delhi streets celebrating International older persons day

New Delhi, Oct 01 (ANI): Enthusiastic elders walked down Delhi streets on Wednesday celebrating the International Day of Older Persons, while commemorating this year's theme of "leaving no one behind: promoting a society for all." On 14 December 1990, the United Nations General Assembly (by resolution 45/106) designated October 01 as the International Day of Older Persons. The event saw various associations of elderly people and even young students participate in the walkathon. The walkathon was flagged off by BJP leader Thawar Chand Gehlot, it was an inspiring sight to see senior citizens walking with an unusual spring in their gait. Gehlot said that the government was doing its bit for the elderly citizens. The walkathon was organised by HelpAge India, an NGO working with and for older people in India for the past 35 years. Two bombs explode in Kabul killing at least seven and wounding 15

Kabul, Oct 01 (ANI): Two Taliban suicide bombers attacked the Afghan capital on Wednesday, killing at least seven people and wounding more than 15, government officials said, a day after the new government and the United States signed a long-delayed security agreement. Afghanistan's interior ministry said the targets of were an army bus and a vehicle carrying Afghan army personnel. The attack in the west of the city, close to Kabul university, was the more serious of the two. It destroyed an army bus and shattered shop windows, killing at least seven, the defence ministry said. New Delhi, Oct 1 (ANI): Two speeding passenger trains collided near Gorakhpur, killing 14 people and injuring 45 others late Tuesday night. Union Railway Minister DV Sadananda Gowda, meanwhile, expressed profound grief over the loss of innocent lives in the accident and announced compensation for the victims. Gorakhpur train collision: Track cleared, operation to begin soon
