Delhi swelters under heat wave in month of August

New Delhi, Aug 27 (ANI): Indian Meteorological department Director BP Yadav said that relief from sweltering heat will come only by the end of the month. This came as Delhi witnessed the hottest day in the month of August after twelve years on Monday. Yadav explained the cause of the heat wave. Earlier, an official had said that a combination of urbanisation, extensive use of concrete and more cars did appear to be changing micro climates within and near cities, exacerbating the impact of heat waves. Yogi Adityanath says his 'Love Jihad' remark not authentic, Congress condemns

New Delhi, Aug 27 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Leader Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that his remark on 'Love Jihad' is not authentic and blamed the media for showing unauthentic news. Adityanath was caught on camera asking his supports to marry girls of other community to set the records straight. He was quoted as saying, "We have decided that if they convert one Hindu girl, we will convert 100 Muslim girls." New Delhi/Imphal, Aug 27 (ANI): Medal winners of the recently concluded Glasgow Commonwealth games were recently felicitated by Ministry of Sports at a function at Vigyan Bhawan in Capital New Delhi. Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar handed over the memento and prize money to the award winning players. India finished at the 5th position by winning 64 medals. The Manipur government also felicitated the commonwealth games participants from the state in a function at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in Imphal. While weightlifting gold medalist Sanjita Khumukcham received Rs.15 Lakh, bronze medal winner in Judo Kalpana Thoudam received Rs.8 lakh. 6 silver medalists- Mirabai Saikhom Chanu in weight lifting, Sushila Likmabam in Judo, Sarita Laishram and Devendro Laishram in boxing and Kangujam Chinglensana and Kotharjit Kadangbam in hockey received Rs 10 lakh each.
