Greater profit from fish farming, around Rs. 60 to 70 thousand per year, is helping people make the switch from traditional farming in Kathua. And to help the people, the fisheries department is providing fish seeds to them. While many central govt. schemes like the National Rural Health Mission exist to improve health care facilities in the rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir, many areas of the state still have poor healthcare facilities. Food products including milk, biscuits, sweets, and other packed food items from outside the state are totally substandard. The people, especially children, are facing many health problems due to substandard products.
