Hyderabad, Jan 24 (ANI): Police on Saturday (January 24) rescued 250 children in Hyderabad who were forced to work as child labourers in industries. These children were rescued during a massive search operation carried out by the police in different locations of the city. Most of the children were from Bihar, aged between eight and 13 years. These children were brought to Hyderabad after paying an advance of rupees 5000 (USD 81.40) to rupees 10,000 (USD 162.80) to their parents. Child labour is getting common in India, where slavery ranges from bonded labour in quarries and kilns to domestic work and commercial sex exploitation. Child rights campaigners say the 2006 law has never been properly implemented or enforced.
