Khunti, Feb 20 (ANI): Police arrested two Maoist rebels in Khunti district of Jharkhand and recovered more than 1.5 million rupees from them. Police said they arrested the Maoist rebels after getting a tip-off that they were on their way to deliver the extortion money to their oganisation, the Peoples Liberation Front of India (PLFI). They had collected money by threatening traders, businessmen and shopkeepers. He added that the rebels were carrying no arms. The rebels have operated for decades across a wide swath of central and eastern India, and grew in strength during recent times in areas where poor, tribal villagers came into conflict with mining companies seeking resources for industrialisation.
