Niantic's augmented reality (AR) mobile phone game "Pokemon Go" may not be as popular as it was a few months ago but the developer surely knows how to keep it alive. It has come up with "Pokemon Go Halloween" event that will bring more fun to gamers.

With Halloween just a few days away, Niantic has come up with in-game "Pokemon Go Halloween" event from October 26 to November 1. Gamers can earn several candies quickly from tasks like Buddy level-up, and Pokemon transfer.

"It's Halloween season and we have a treat for you! From October 26th to November 1st, you'll earn double the amount of Candy every time you catch, hatch and transfer Pokémon! Don't forget your Buddy Pokémon, because they will help you earn Candy four times as fast," reads the description in a video posted by Niantic.

"If you encounter more spooky Pokémon than normal, don't be startled, they want to enjoy the fun too! Scare up some friends, grab your buddy and enjoy this spooky, fun celebration with us! Happy Halloween!" it added.

Niantic's "Pokemon Go Halloween" event could be seen as a move to counter the drastic fall in the number of players of late. It has also come up with new updates with an aim to make more people engage in the game.

App market analyst Apptopia had earlier reported that "Pokemon Go" lost millions of active users a month after its release into the market, with the number of active users falling from 50.2 million on August 12 to 32.4 million on September 10.

Surprisingly, Niantic hasn't released the game to some of the biggest gaming markets of the world like China, South Korea and India.
