New Delhi, Nov 11 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tribute to Acharya Jivatram Bhagwandas Kripalani as well as freedom fighter Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on their birth anniversary. Modi tweeted, "Scholar, freedom fighter and a man who devoted his life towards nation building, I salute Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on his birth anniversary". Azad was one of the tallest national leaders of his time and promoted the cause of Hindu Muslim unity as well as secularism and socialism. His contribution to laying the foundation of education in independent India is recognised by celebrating his birthday as "National Education Day" across India. The prime minister also paid tribute to Acharya Kripalani. "Tributes to Acharya Kripalani on his birth anniversary. His ideals and strong commitment to serve the poor continue to inspire," he added.
