New Delhi, Oct 29 (ANI): Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, has stressed on the need to strengthen the country’s disaster management mechanisms against the backdrop of the recent natural disasters that had struck the nation. Singh made this statement at the 5th meeting of the National Disaster Management Agency that was chaired by him. Singh appreciated the collaboration between the Odisha government and the NDMA for its preparedness to have tackled the natural disaster of cyclone Phailin and consequently saving many lives. Explaining how the poor and the marginalised people are the most affected during times of natural disasters, Singh said that the country must improve its disaster management system further.
