New Delhi, Oct 04 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called for revamp of the country's disaster preparedness and response mechanism on Friday, as three and a half months pass, after Uttarakhand was ravaged by incessant rains and ensuing flash floods. Singh said that it was important that they learnt lessons from Uttarakhand tragedy and integrate, mainstream disaster risk reduction strategies into their mainstream development initiatives. Singh added that his government was committed to fully assist the Uttarakhand Government in task of rehabilitation and settlement of those whose houses and property was damaged.
