Comedy drama film "PK", starring Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma, has been roaring ever since it has been released.
At domestic box office, the film already pushed past the records of "Kick" and become the highest grosser. And now at worldwide box office, the film has created another benchmark.
Aamir starrer has earned over ₹376 crore at the worldwide box office within 10 days of its release.
From domestic box office the film earned ₹263.5 crore and from overseas market, the film minted ₹112.58 crore (17.7 million USD), according to Bollywood Hungama.
"PK", also called as "Peekay", has maintained a momentum at the overseas box office as well. The film, helmed by Rajkumar Hirani, has shattered the records of Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year" and "Chennai Express" in overseas market.
After making its mark in India, the film has become highest grosser at the overseas box office as well.
And simultaneously it crossed the ₹100 crore mark at the overseas box office as well. In the highest grosser list, "PK" has grabbed the fourth position, pushing "Chennai Express" and "Happy New Year" to fifth and sixth positions, respectively.
The film has grossed 1.5 million pounds (₹15.17 crore) from the UK-Ireland box office by second weekend. At the UK box office, "PK" is the ninth highest grosser.
From the Gulf region, the film minted 12.69 million AED (₹22.01 crore) by second weekend.
The performance of the film is good in Australia and New Zealand box offices, where Bollywood films don't fare well.
From Australian box office, the film earned A$1.6 million (₹8.29 crore) within 10 days, while from New Zealand box office, the film raked in NZ$ 0.4 million (₹2.06 crore)
The film is set to overtake the box office earnings of "Dhoom 3" at Australian collection centres and take the top spot.
The collections from the US-Canada and UAE-GCC have not been updated.
Meanwhile, Amrita Pandey, the VP and Head of Marketing and Distribution of Disney India, said that the distribution strategy worked in the favour of the film.
"The film has performed phenomenally well - and is now the highest grossing Hindi film ever in its first week in India, North America, Australia and many more. Most importantly, the movie has seen an unprecedented growth trajectory. The occupancy rates in most theatres all over have been very encouraging. We look forward to a long theatrical run for the movie!" he told IANS.
The film, which released on Aamir's lucky date, ie on 19 December, also features Anushka Sharma in female lead. Sushant Singh Rajput, Boman Irani and Sanjay Dutt are in supporting roles.
