Aamir Khan-Anushka Sharma's "PK" (Peekay) has become the fourth highest grossing film of the year, beating Ajay Devgn's "Singham Returns" records.
The comedy drama, helmed by Rajkumar Hirani, has also earned more than ₹200 crore from its worldwide box office, even before finishing its first week run.
Aamir's "PK" has now shattered the worldwide box office record of Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year". "Happy New Year" starring SRK-Deepika Padukone took seven days to earn ₹202 crore from worldwide box office, while "PK" earned more than that in just six days.
Despite running during the weekdays, the film raked in pretty good amount from the box office. The business picked up on Wednesday again, after a low Tuesday.
On Monday, it minted ₹21.22 crore and on next day it witnessed a drop of approximately 20%. The film minted ₹18.85 crore on Tuesday and on Wednesday the business went up and it raked in ₹19.36 crore, according to Bollywood Hungama. The six days total of the film now stands at ₹154.84 crore.
With Thursday being a holiday, the film is expected to earn more than ₹30 crore. If it earns more than ₹30 crore, then it will be the highest ever first week total.
Trade analyst are expecting that the film would earn more than ₹175 crore in its first week, again shattering the records "Happy New Year", "Kick" and even "Dhoom 3".
"PK is sustaining fabulously at the box office so the first week collections should be around ₹175 crore if not more than that," exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi told BollywoodLife.com.
