Shoojit Sircar's directorial film "Piku" has opened to phenomenal response at the overseas box office.

The film, which is already doing wonders in India, has recorded the highest opening weekend box office collection at the overseas box office, according to Bollywood Hungama.

"#Piku is EXTRAORDINARY in international markets too. Opening weekend total: $ 2.273 million [₹ 14.52 cr]. BIGGEST OPENER 2015 Overseas," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

"Piku" starring Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan in the lead roles has shattered the records of Bollywood film "Baby" and Tamil movie "Uttama Villain" (Uthama Villain).

In its opening weekend, Akshay Kumar starrer "Baby" collected approximately ₹6 crore from the overseas box office, while "Piku" minted more than its double in first three days.

Here is country wise breakup of "Piku" and "Baby":

US: "Piku" minted $ 787,376 (₹5.03 crore) from 118 screens, while "Baby" minted $ 350,903 (₹2.15 crore) from 85 screens in their respective opening weekend.

UK-IRELAND: From the UK box office, "Piku" minted £ 110,694 (₹1.08 crore) from 36 screens, while "Baby" collection was less than a crore. "Baby" accumulated £ 67,931 (₹62.71 lakh) from 38 screens.

UAE-GCC: The opening day box office collection of "Piku" is equal to three days box office collection of "Baby" at the Gulf box office. "Piku" minted approximately AED 1, 602, 360 (₹2.80 crore) on day one and approximately AED 2,825,900 (₹4.91 crore) in its opening weekend. "Baby" collected AED 1,785,363 (₹2.98 crore) in its opening weekend.

AUSTRALIA: From 15 screens "Piku" managed to take its box office income to AS 142,147 (₹71.56 lakh), while "Baby" earned only A$ 104,238 (₹50.53 lakh) from 18 screens.

NEW ZEALAND: At New Zealand box office, "Baby" fared better than "Piku". Akshay's film earned NZ$ 26,195 (₹11.96 lakh) from eight screens, while "Piku" earned NZ$ 18,474 (₹8.70 lakh) from just three screens.

MALAYSIA: "Piku" was released in just two screens at the Malaysian box office. The film minted MYR 26,313 (₹4.67 lakh) in its opening weekend.

Piku Vs "Uttama Villain" (Uthama Villain)

The Amitabh starrer has shattered the record of Kamal Haasan's movie by big margin at the US-Canada box office. The box office collection of "Piku" has surpassed the opening weekend total of Kamal Haasan's film by ₹2.07 crore.

US Box office: The opening weekend total of "Uttama Villain" at the US box office stands at $461,163 (₹2.96 crore), while "Piku" earnings are $787,376 (₹5.03 crore).
