Number of domestic air passengers soars nearly 21% in 2015

The number of passengers using domestic flights increased by 20.84% during January-August 2015 compared to the same period last year. In August 2015 alone, there has been a rise of 18.66% passengers compared to the same month in 2014. IndiGo continued to dominate the Indian aviation market with 23.85 lakh passengers in August 2015, which was with more than 35% of the total number. It was followed by Jet Airways (13.39 lakh), Air India (11.25 lakh), SpiceJet (8.30 lakh) and GoAir (5.49 lakh) as the leading carriers. On the other hand, airlines like Air Pegasus and Trujet witnessed the highest rate of cancellation during August 2015.
