India's position rose by 16 notches to 55th among 140 countries in the global competitiveness index in 2015 owing to various initiatives taken by the Narendra Modi government, according to a report released by the World Economic Forum (WEF). With a score of 4.31 out of 7, the country improved its position significantly from the 71st rank in 2014.
