El Nino fear comes true, India sees 13% dip in monsoon rainfall

As the monsoon season nears its end, the country seems to be staring at a major drought, especially in the north, east and south-west regions. Till September 22, India had received 736.2 mm rainfall, which was 13% lower than normal. Regions like East UP (-46%), west UP (-43%), Bihar (-26%), East MP (-27%), Marathwada (-36%), Punjab (-36%), Haryana (-37%) and Maharashtra saw abnormally low rainfall. On the other hand, West Rajasthan saw a rise of 49% in rainfall.
