Bihar Assembly polls: First phase turnout much higher than 2010 election

The first phase of Bihar Assembly polls, which was held on 12 October, recorded 57% voter turnout. The turnout in these constituencies was much better than the 50.8% polling in 2010. Female voters utilised their suffrage better than the men as around 60% of the listed voters participated in the election. The number of male voters stood below 55%. As many as 583 candidates were contesting across at these 49 constituencies, having a total number of 1.35 crore voters distributed across 13,212 polling stations. Credit: KBK
