The premiere episode titled "From the Ashes of Tragedy" of FX's true-crime anthology television series "The People v OJ Simpson: American Crime Story" is all set to premiere on 2 February, and John Travolta's turn as lawyer Robert Shapiro, who was hired by Simpson, has already garnered praise both from fans and critics.
The first season of the series is an adaptation of the famous murder trial of OJ Simpson, which is based on Jeffrey Toobin's "The Run of His Life: The People v OJ Simpson".

John Travolta, who is known for his roles in movies like "Pulp Fiction" and "Swordfish", was cast as Robert Shapiro — a renowned American civil litigator most recognised for assembling a defence team which successfully defended OJ Simpson in 1995 from the charges of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman the previous year.
Travolta will also serve as the producer of the series. Cuba Gooding and Sarah Paulson have been cast as OJ Simpson and Marcia Clark, respectively. "Friends" actor David Schwimmer will play the role of Robert Kardashian, Simpson's close friend and defence attorney during the trial.
Apart from Travolta, the performance of other actors and actresses has also been good. Courtney B Vance as Johnnie Cochran and Gooding as Simpson are very convincing and truly bring the characters to life.
The series consists of 10 episodes and will start from 1994 with the discovery of the bodies of Simpson's ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.
Created by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, "The People v OJ Simpson" has received critical acclaim. Rotten Tomatoes has given an approval rating of 94% to the season based on 31 reviews, with an average rating of 8.1/10.
