Pebble Time has finally started accepting pre-orders for its Time smartwatch. Those who supported the project in its crowdfunding drive and invested $20 million started receiving their watches last month. Now, it's time for ordinary people to grab the watch through open sales.
The company on Monday started accepting pre-orders for its Time smartwatch via Best Buy. The shipment is expected to begin next month.
Pre-orders for the smartwatch are not confined to any particular region, as interested buyers can place orders from any part of the world.
In the US, buyers can pre-order Pebble Time for $199.99 (£179/ Rs.12,700) and choose from three colour options, black, white or red. Pebble Time will also hit offline stores shortly but the exact dates are yet to be revealed by the start-up.
Pebble Time had raised $20 million in just 17 minutes on Kickstarter using the crowdfunding route in March this year. The attraction towards the smartwatch was quite clear with its 1.25-inch e-paper always-on display, seven-day battery, Android and iOS support, Bluetooth pairing, integrated microphone and a wide range of more than 6,500 apps and watchfaces.
Pebble Time smartwatch follows the company's signature design and dons a strong, water resistant build with 22mm replaceable watch bands.
The smartwatch gives a stiff competition to its rivals such as Samsung Gear watches, Apple Watch and others.
